British Lion Quality eggs: A Marketing Case Study looks at
the way in which the British Egg Information Service (BEIS)
revived the public image of eggs following the salmonella
crisis of the late 1980s. Students are given a brief introduction
to the marketing of eggs throughout the twentieth century,
then invited to take part in a simulation exercise as members
of the BEIS, responsible for marketing eggs in Britain in
the all-important period following the scare.
This informative resource is designed as a downloadable
pdf. It is intended for use primarily by students of Business
Studies and Media Studies at GCSE, GNVQ and AS/A level but
will also be of interest to anyone wishing to study modern
marketing strategy.

The four investigations are for use by students studying Food
Technology at GCSE level or at further and higher education
and taken from the more extensive educational resource The
Egg File. The exercises cover the freshness of eggs, coagulation,
aeration and emulsification in detail.
Teachers and students might like to order the Egg File which
explores virtually every aspect of eggs, including marketing
information, nutrition and food preparation qualities and
provides teachers' notes and reference material for student
projects.
